Manthorpe Engineering are actively recruiting for a skilled engineer to build high integrity, complex assemblies for the Nuclear and Defence Industries. This role would suit a time served engineer with the ability to operate manual machine tools (milling and turning) with additional skills including the use of hand operated tools and lifting equipment. The assemblies that the successful candidate will be working with are varied, interesting and are critical to the UK Defence industry.

The Role and Requirements;

  • The ideal candidate should be able to work on their own initiative and be able to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • The role will entail the fitting, assembly and testing of a wide array of assemblies. The scope of work will cover relatively straightforward tooling through to complex mechanical assemblies with associated hydraulic systems.
  • The size of projects will vary from items which can be handled manually up to and including larger assemblies which require specialised lifting and handling equipment.
  • Working closely with the Project Engineering team, you will be responsible for meeting the customer requirements as defined by their specification and testing requirements.
  • Candidates must have manual machining experience in order to support the assembly and testing process.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping and organisation of their working area.

Schedule:

  • Day shift, 0730-1630 (Mon-Thu), 0730-1230 (Fri)
  • 33 days holiday per annum (includes bank holidays)
  • Overtime available (Mon-Sat), paid at 1.5x

Pay from £16.97 - £20.16 / hr, negotiable, dependent on skills and experience.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Ripley, DE5 3ND: reliably commute

Experience / Qualifications

  • Time Served / Level 3 Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
  • Manual Machining: 5 years
  • Mechanical Assembly: 3 years
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, comfortable working as part of a team
  • Experience of working within relevant industries; Nuclear, Defence
  • Experience of working with a wide range of assemblies in size and weight
  • Experience of working to tight tolerances
  • Understanding of the need to work to procedures and specifications

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £16.97-£20.16 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 39 per week
